Silverlight 2.0 RC now available (Sept. 25th)!!

Cesar De la Torre

Great news!, yesterday we launched Silverlight 2.0 Release Candidate!

It is quite probable that the final RTW build will be available shortly!

I wanted to mention that because of we are still in BETA phases, it is more than likely that we have to check and update our code, because this new version will probably break our currents developments made with SL20 Beta2.

So!, Start porting your pre-silverlight 2.0 sites to Silverlight 2.0 RC and be ready for the RTW version!!

Downloads (SL 2.0 RC0 version):

  • Microsoft Silverlight Tools for Visual Studio 2008 SP1
This will install the necessary Visual Studio updates, Silverlight project templates, RC0 developer runtime, and SDK.
  • Microsoft Expression Blend 2 Service Pack 1 Preview
This version of Expression Blend is targeted to work with the RC0 developer runtime for Silverlight.
  • Windows: Silverlight 2 RC0 Developer Runtime (optional)
This runtime is already included in the Silverlight Tools for Visual Studio 2008 SP1 RC0. If you want only the runtime, or if you installed only Expression Blend which does not include this runtime, you may download it independently here.
  • Mac: Silverlight 2 RC0 Developer Runtime (optional)
Download and install this runtime for testing your application on Mac OS.
  • If you own a Silverlight 2 beta 2 site, we strongly recommend that you start a process to fix the breaking changes and test them on your staging environment as soon as possible. This will allow you to switch to the updated site on Silverlight 2 RTW date and have a smooth transition for your audience.
