What's next for Developers in 2015?

2015 is positioned to be an exciting year for developers.  Considering the momentum around announcements at Connect and with Build 2015 right around the corner, now is a good time to be thinking about modernization and cloud strategy.  If you haven’t significantly revised the way you build apps and run development projects in the last few years, you are missing opportunities.

Cloud, Mobile, Social, Big Data, and Agile have changed the game
The cloud has created a better way to build scalable applications, reach more customers, and operate at lower costs than ever before.  While many have embraced Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) to start their journey, Platform as a Service (PaaS) often means a more efficient solution and better ROI.  Mobile is accessibility, anywhere, on any device, to reach customers and enable a distributed workforce.  Social is taking communication to the next level with customers and employees.  What are they thinking?  What do they want?  How can we get better?  Data is everywhere, but how do you make it work for you?  Agile is adapting to change faster to be more productive.  If you are not doing it, your competition is.

Decisions and Partnerships
Developers know there are many platform choices available today, but not every company brings the same level of commitment and investment with new opportunity.  Microsoft is “all-in” in terms of cloud strategy and Azure experienced a monumental year in 2014.  Recognized as an industry leader in both PaaS and IaaS, there are trusted services available today to help anyone realize cloud transformation in their business.  Azure not only supports the best of Microsoft platforms and technologies, but also provides support for Linux, Oracle, MySQL, Hybrid solutions, and more.  Azure is the perfect cloud platform to integrate with just about any kind of mobile client, whatever the underlying platform may be.

With best in breed developer tools such as Visual Studio, .NET Framework, Team Foundation Server, and Visual Studio Online it’s never been easier to build applications using the technology that is right for you.  Open source solutions are now on the roadmap for .NET, enabling skills and code reuse across Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Microsoft Services
What makes partnering with Microsoft truly different?  Technology is just a piece of it.  Microsoft Services has been supporting our customers through Premier Support relationships for nearly three decades.  Nobody else supports the entire stack, end to end, with a worldwide organization and predicable support lifecycle for every Microsoft technology.  Whether you are compiling code on a development workstation, troubleshooting production workloads in the cloud, tuning SQL server in a test environment, or keeping the lights on with legacy applications, Microsoft offers world class support options to keep your business on track and positioned for future opportunity.
