Sharktopus: Just when you thought it was safe to see what movies are coming out

Sharktopus: Half-shark. Half-octopus. All-killer.

I am not making that up.

The Web site is, presumably because was already taken. I am not making that up.

I guess they wanted to ride the coattails of Megashark vs. Giant Octopus?

Even more disturbing discovery: Megashark vs. Giant Octopus has a sequel: Megashark versus Crocosaurus.

One of my colleagues says that he's going to wait for the sequel: Sharktopuses on a Plane.

Surely Sharktopuses on a Plane 3D.

  2. Dan Bugglin says:

Wouldn't it be "Sharktopi on a Plane"?

  3. Anonymous says:

    Technically, "Sharktopodes on a Plane".

I have watched the Sharktopus movie.  I have not yet watched the sequel.  One hokey half shark / half octopus movie is good enough for me, thanks.

Now if it were a move about the Bearsharktopus, I'd be quaking in my boots. Nothing is more terrifying than a 1/2 Bear, 1/2 Sharktopus (or 1/2 Bearshark, 1/2 Octopus… I don't know which).

I want Sharktopus vs Aliens and then Sharktopus vs Zombies!

"Megashark versus Crocosaurus"? I think you just gave away the ending of Megashark vs. Giant Octopus – surely there should be a spoiler warning for people have not yet had the pleasure of watching it.

    Sharktopus vs Zombies… on a Plane… 3D.

I heard about this on Modern Family.  I thought they just made it up as a plot device…

The de facto naming convention for promotional movie websites appears to be, no matter whether itself is already taken or not.

    "Land Shark!"

    Seriously.. I want one.

A mate was running a Windows VM on his Mac laptop on the weekend with a tethered iPhone and a USB memory stick inserted. He kept cursing Windows [he needs to use a Windows app for some work thing], though the real problem was his mobile phone company has poor coverage in rural areas, so his internet connection kept dropping out… The whole setup, combined with his cursing and trying to orient the iPhone like an old tv-antenna for better reception, looked pretty sharkoctopus.

Anyways, I'm surprised the B movie didn't use the James Bond reference, shark-octopussy.

  13. Raymond, I think you fail to appreciate the epic badness associated with bad science fiction movies.  As a long time lover of bad science fiction movie, I'm sitting in bad movie heaven right now.  The ScyFy network here in the states has embraced b-movie stories and runs them regularly on Saturday (all day).  Yes the plots are ridiculous, but the movies are *fun*.  Sharktopus is maybe the best example of the badness associated with these movies – the producers of these movies KNOW that they're making horrible movies and they relish it.

  14. leaves you less open to trademark disputes.

Of course, a .movie TLD would solve a lot of these problems.

Didja hear? Discovery Channel has announced their Shark Week lineup featuring the Sharktopus!

In fact, if it proves a big hit, they're thinking of renaming Shark Week to Sharktopus Week.

The bearsharktopus would be ½ bear, ½ shark, ½ octopus and ½ mad… sadly I forget the rest of the quote.

SyFy Channel Original Series are usually pretty good and sometimes excellent.

SyFy Channel Original Movies usually suck and are painful to watch. They don't make it to b-movie level for me.

@Neil: There's so much "1/2" here. It seems the number doesn't sum well…

@Cheong I know, and I believe the rest of the quote makes reference to that.

    Randy: Manbearpig?

Kyle: He's half man and half bearpig.

Cartman: No dude. He's half man, half bear, and half pig.

Kyle: That doesn't make any sense.

Stan: He could be half bear and half manpig.

Randy: Boys, there's no such thing as Manbearpig. The vice president is just desperate for attention.

Stan: But I feel kind of bad for him dad. I don't think he has any friends
