Games to play at your Battlestar Galactica watching party

It is common among my circle of friends to have Battlestar Galactica-watching parties, and one way of making it a party is by playing games.

Things we've done (or plan on doing):

• Battlestar Galactica tarot card readings.
• Battlestar Galactica Jeopardy.
• Battlestar Galactica Family Feud (based on results of actual online polls, like "Which Battlestar Galactica character would look good in a dress.")
• Battlestar Galactica Apples to Apples.
• Battlestar Galactica Password.
• Battlestar Galactica cocktails.

1. Mark says:

My favourite TV/movie watching party game involves everyone being given a secret word or phrase which is frequently used in the movie or programme being watched (we did it with Pirates of the Caribbean so things like ‘ship’, ‘pirate’ etc. were used). Whenever that phrase is said, the person with it on his/her card has to take a (non-)alcoholic drink – but as subtly as possible.

Everyone is trying to guess everyone else’s secret phrase and you are ‘out’ if yours is guessed correctly.

2. Some Mark says:

BSG All-In Wrestling?

Cylon murder mystery weekend?

3. Another Mark says:

Which would look good in a dress?

Survey says… Baltar?

4. Mark The IV says:

As a variation on Mark’s when watching a team sport of some kind you randomly pick a player, when that player catchespasseshits the ball you have to skull (beer preferably).

Always someone will get the guy who does 90% of the catchingpassinghitting and ends up unconscious by half time.

5. Gabe says:

Skull is a verb? What does it mean?

6. Anonymous Coward says:

It roughly means to drink quickly, often in large gulps or without stopping for breath before the entire drink is consumed.

A similar term might be "chug".

7. Johnny says:

Oh wow. I can handle the chat about assembly language but this is one step too geeky.

8. will says:

"Which would look good in a dress?

Survey says… Baltar?"

Current one or John Colicos?

9. David says:

I will go out on a limb and say you could try the Battlestar Galactica board game, which is quite good.

10. David says:

This time, with better linkage

Battlestar Galactica board game

11. TR says:

Yup, the BSG board game is excellent. Highly recommended.

Be warned though, play time can be more like 4 hours, rather than the advertised 2, especially on your first play. It is not a simple game, so take plenty of time before playing to go over the rules.
