TFS 2008: Command line help for tf.exe now prints to the console

In TFS 2005 running help from tf.exe popped up the MSDN help browser.  That was a bit lame, but we didn’t allocate the time to do it right.  That’s been fixed in TFS 2008.

Running tf.exe /? produces a list of commands, and tf someCommand /? produces detailed help on that command.

Here are a couple of examples.  These two commands are also new in TFS 2008.

    Workspace         Wworkspacename;workspaceowner

D:\>tf folderdiff /?

+1 "Hoorah!". I can’t count the number of times I’ve gone tf.exe command /?… then gone "damn!" when I wait for MSDN help to start.

Would there be a patch for TFS 2005 by any chance?  You know, a quick-and-dirty utility to update this?

  6. buckh says:

Unfortunately, there is not.  You could try contacting customer support and requesting a patch (there is not one in existence currently).
