Microsoft’s Imagine Cup is a global competition that offers up to USD100,000 and challenges student developers to create cloud-based solutions that will change the world. To empower Imagine Cup competitors with more opportunities to build their cloud development skills, Microsoft launched the Big Idea Challenge and asked competitors to pitch their Imagine Cup ideas and plans for a chance to win cash, Azure credit, and mentoring to take their projects to the next level.
The pitches submitted showcased student passion to change the world and the top submissions used the cloud to make their dreams a reality. The competitors submitted incredible pitches that demonstrated the power of Azure with 36% of submissions leveraging App Services, 21% focusing on Machine Learning, and 12% utilizing Cognitive Services and AI. First Place Winner—USD$3,000
XVision is a system designed to automatically detect anomalies and diseases encountered anywhere in the human body. With radiologist-level accuracy, XVision analyzes common medical X-ray images with the help of Azure Machine Learning and Azure Functions.
Second Place Winner—USD$2,000
Datax Ecosystem, Hong Kong
Datax is a data exchange platform built on blockchain. It comprises of two functions: Workforce that allows AI researchers and companies to crowdsource training data, and Marketplace that empowers businesses to commercialize data assets.
Third Place Winner—USD$1,000
rientiQ Biotechnologies, Hungary
rientiQ detects the possibility to develop breast cancer in young adult women using gene sequencing and analysis with quantum machine learning.
