A different kind of post–thanks Kate!

I don’t usually post non-technical stuff here – but today one of my long-time colleagues has her last day at Microsoft.  After 22 years Kate Simpson has decided to retire and we will certainly miss her, and I know many of our customers will too!  Kate spent all those years supporting mostly Project, but in her earlier years, DOS, Multiplan, Excel, WfW…  Here is Kate’s bookshelf – a history of Project – or at least as long as we had boxed product.

I’ve been fortunate to have shared over half that time working with Kate and her help and assistance has been invaluable to all of us on the team – all over the world.  Kate was recounting some ‘field trips’ yesterday – and an onsite to Maui got the top spot – but I know she also enjoyed her time in India training our team in Bangalore – some who are still there – and many others who went on to other roles in the Project world, for Microsoft and beyond.

Kate and Mike plan to finish off the National Parks that they haven’t already visited (22 to go I think) and I’m sure she will soon wonder how she ever found the time to go to work!  Thanks Kate!

Best wishes to you on your retirement, Kate! And thanks so much for all of your help throughout the year! You’re the best! – Efren

Best wishes to Kate on a deserved time visiting the National Parks – the bookshelf shot was an interesting piece of Project archaeology – Team Manager was to my mind an opportunity missed, “best fit scheduling” was pretty smart and the few customers I worked with who used it all got benefit from it.
