Project and Project Server: Cumulative Updates go Public

Still working on the full February 2015 ‘Cumulative’ Update posting for Project and Project Server, which will appear over on the Project Support blog – (*** Now posted - http://blogs.technet.com/b/projectsupport/archive/2015/02/11/microsoft-project-server-2010-and-2013-february-2015-pu-announcement.aspx ***) but there is a change this month – and we have dropped ‘Cumulative Updates’ and now we will be using the Office Updates ‘Public Updates’ mechanism.  So no more CU’s welcome PU’s.  Public Updates are be available via Windows Update or from links in the KB articles from the Download Center.  The only exception will be the ‘uber’ or roll-up packages which have both the Project and SharePoint fixes – which will only be available via the download center and I will list these on my full blog posting.  Most of the KB articles are posted – but I did see a few of the links to the download center are still not live just yet.  The overview KB is here - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3032763.

Rest assured that only the deliver mechanism has changed and the packages still contain all the fixes and are cumulative with all previous fixes too.

This screenshot from my Project Server 2013 has identified several packages for Project Server 2013 and SharePoint Server and Foundation 2013.

    Hi Brian,

we have seen some troubles on our customer Environments with the public updates. The main problem was that after rebooting the server the SP Config Wizard was starting in a hidden state which causes some additional problems.

That fact I noticed as well installing the "Uberpackage" on customers Environment in a controlled way:

Every time we installed the bits and then restarting the machine, the Config Wizard is running in the backgroud "unvisible".

Is this a known side effect or is there a settings which we do not know which enables this feature from the backdoor.

    Regards from the customers front

    Imma
