Experiencing Data Access Issue in Azure Portal for Many Data Types – 03/21 – Resolved

Application Insights has mitigated an issue affecting customer access to all data types within the Application Insights portal and the Application Analytics portal.  We've confirmed that all systems are back to normal with no customer impact as of 03/21, 17:27 UTC. Our logs show the incident started on 03/21, 15:30 UTC and that during the 2 hours that it took to resolve the issue, up to 40% of customers may have experienced failures retrieving data within the Application Insights or Application Analytics portals.
  • Root Cause: Initial investigation indicates the failure was linked to a code deployment and we are continuing to dig in on full RCA.
  • Lessons Learned: We are researching options to better refine our monitoring and telemetry to prevent these issues in the future.
