Experiencing issues with sending client side telemetry using Javascript SDK in Application Insights – 08/05 – Resolved

We've confirmed that all systems are back to normal with no customer impact as of 8/5, 04:15 UTC. Our logs show the incident started on 8/5, 00:00 UTC and that during the four hours and fifteen minutes that it took to resolve the issue, customers attempting to implement Application Insights in their applications using Visual Studio 2013/2015 would have experienced failures. Existing JavaScript SDK customers would have experienced data loss.
  • Root Cause: The failure was due to dependent resources going offline during the incident window.
  • Lessons Learned: Our engineers are reviewing the root cause and investigating additional monitoring and failover options to prevent this issue from reoccurring in the future.
