Experiencing Data Latency for Many Data Types – 01/02 – Resolved

We’ve confirmed that all systems are back to normal with no customer impact as of 1/3, 02:45 UTC. Our logs show the incident started on 01/02, 21:08 UTC and that during the 6 hours that it took to resolve the issue,  most of our customers experienced 
data latency for a period of 2 hours from 01/02 22:30 UTC to 01/02 22:30 UTC. During the course of the incident, some of our customers would have also seen a gap in their data ingested between 01/02 20:30 UTC and 01/02 22:30 UTC. Both issues stand resolved now. 

  • Root Cause: The failure was due to an inherent issue with the framework running our processing service.
  • Lessons Learned: The team is looking at different options to mitigate in long term this inherent problem with the framework which is in use in our component.

Root cause has been isolated to certain framework issues which was impacting the processing service. . The processing component is now working as expected. Some customers may experience a gap in their data for the time frame from 01/02/2016 20:30 UTC to 01/02/2016 22:30 UTC. We estimate another 8 hours before this data gap is completely back filled.
