    @Vishal0Soni – This question actually comes up a lot.  The way we think about has a few pieces to it.  First, do you have a way of abstracting the complexity of the underlying infrastructure to get to a place where you can present a smoothed layer of “compute fabric”?  Then, can you delegate that capacity to different groups or people and do they have a way of interfacing with that capacity in a self-service way (whether that’s through a Service Catalog or something more basic)?  If you really wanted to boil things down to their essence, you might come to this conclusion.  However, this definition would miss the whole notion of whether you can deploy services and applications that are automatically elastic by design and can incorporate automated remediation.  You’d also miss out on the ability to present charge-back (or at least show-back) to the organization.  So you can see there are certainly different levels of how expansive you would want this private cloud infrastructure to be.

    I guess you can put some light on one simple confusion regarding private cloud.

    What are the essential elements (may be a minimal list of capabilities or products) for any organization to be called as a "Private Cloud Owner'?

    I know there are few basic requirements like self service, standardization, chargeback service etc. But is there a minimum criteria, that could decide whether an organization can be called as a private cloud owner?

    A: The benefits vary for different people in the organization, but the easiest general benefit to see is agility.  Right now many business units view central IT as a blocker to them getting their work done because it is slow to turn around their requests.  With a private cloud infrastructure, central IT can offer automated services to an organization and business units have the capability to deploy applications that can automatically grow and shrink based on demand.  It’s a new level of agility and ultimately productivity for the company.
