If you haven’t gone through installing VS 2005 on Vista then you might want to refer to these links to help you along the way.
SQL Reporting Services from the forums https://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1376728&SiteID=17
VS and SP1 info from “the man” Scott Guthrie http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2006/12/15/visual-studio-2005-service-pack-1-sp1-released.aspx
Additional VS install info http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/aa948853.aspx
Some of the major points to note:
1) Make sure you install the IIS 6 compatability stuff in Vista BEFORE installing SQL Reporting Services or VS
2) Get the SQL sp2 and VS sp1 (and sp1 update for Vista!!) service packs on before freaking out that your install doesn’t work
3) Run VS as administrator unless you are really bored and just need to kill time with errors that don’t matter
