Goodbye Girl

Hello, Amazing Creators!

It has already been an exciting week for everyone! At long last, we’ve got the final version of XNA Game Studio 4.0 into your eager hands. There are even more exciting and amazing things we have to share with you very soon, too. So it is with a heavy heart I regret to have to tell everyone that I am moving on.

These past two years working for all of you incredible Creators have been amazing. No one (no, not even me!) knew just how far you’d go and what you’d accomplish with the ability to make your own games for Xbox 360. Here we are at 1400 games, and I am still constantly surprised at what you can do! I know it hasn’t been easy, especially lately with all the system outages and downtime as we work to improve the system. As ever, we appreciate your continued support and effort. The Xbox LIVE Indie Games channel only works because you make it work. The channel sinks or swims on your participation, enthusiasm and hard work. I love (almost) all of you for everything you’ve done. You haven’t made the decision to leave an easy one!

Don’t worry, though. I’m not going very far, and I hope to be able to share more about where I’m going soon! In the meanwhile, as the team looks for a new Community Manager, the incredible and over-qualified Atsuko Tanaka and John Barr will be stepping up to fill my shoes. They’ll be available at the alias. Charles Cox is also here and has some pretty amazing content just about ready to release to everyone. My beloved MVPs are also out there and they’ll be helping everyone get up to speed (on both sides of the fence!).

Finally, I’d like to thank all of you for everything you’ve done and taught me these past two years. I’ve made it a point to play every single one of the games that have been released to the service. Now, I can honestly say I loved tons of them, disliked a few, hated a couple, and forgotten every single fart or massage game. This system was built by Space Brains for you. It is far from perfect, but it is still unlike anything else in the industry. It is your hard work and your great games that will make it grow. As ever, I can’t wait to see what you do next.
