SQL Server 2005 has shipped!

This is my first blog post here and it couldn't be anything I'm more excited about!  Today it is just announced that SQL Server 2005 is ready for primetime and has been released to manufacturing.  This was a long road but SQL 2005 is chock full of XML goodies... There's the XML Datatype and server-side XQuery, the new XML Editor in SQL Server Management Studio (no more copy and paste out of that little cell in query analyzer for XML queries!), updgraded SQLXML 4.0 with 64-bit support, System.Xml 2.0 in the SQLCLR, and the first public release of MSXML 6.0 (coming soon to a web release near you...stay tuned for updates).  MSXML 6.0 is the most secure and reliable release of MSXML yet with improved support for XSD 1.0 and compatibility with System.Xml.Schema.

Keep your eyes on Michael Rys' blog - for more on XML in SQL Server 2005 and the SQL Server 2005 dev center

So check it out as soon as Express is ready for download (it also comes bundled with Visual Studio 2005) and let us know what cool things you're doing with XML and SQL Server.
