Automation of Windows 8.1 to Windows 8 fast track submission process

We are pleased to share with our partners that we have been able to automate the fast track submission process for Windows 8.1 to Windows 8 as described in this blog entry. With this change, we are also retiring errata 2656, effective May 1, 2015. The automation will enforce based off of the product types listed in the blog article referenced earlier.

You will only need to follow these three steps:

  1. Using the Windows HCK for Windows 8.1, create a Windows 8.1 project, and run the full certification suite of tests.

  2. Using the Windows HCK for Windows 8.1, create a Windows 8 project and run only the Device.DevFund INF test.

  3. Package the results of the projects for submission uploading by using the Windows HCK for Windows 8.1.

    Thanks for sharing this information.

I have few queries regarding this.

    1) Is this process applicable for Win 8 Server OS.

    2) Currently we have to provide "Readme" doc for errata 2656. Do we need to provide it for the new submission process also.

    Hi Arpo,

    1)  No, 2656 did not apply to server so the logic is not built in.

    2)  No more readme is required which is why that step was not included.

    Best regards,

    Paul

As you have mentioned that "2656 did not apply to server so the logic is not built in.".

Please let us know, if there are any similar plans for the Server 2012 (Win 8 Server) OS, as currently we have to run all the tests for this.
