Two KBs, issued as part of the April 2014 Security Update for Windows Embedded Standard 7 (Standard 7) are considered “online only” updates. They cannot be correctly added to an answer file and deployed using the Standard 7 Toolkit but must instead be applied to an online image. These KBs are:
- KB 2929755 – Out of memory when you load some image resources in a Windows application.
- KB 2912390 – Vulnerability in Direct2D could allow remote code execution
Both of these KBs require that KB 2670838 be installed first, before they can be installed.
If you attempt to install these KBs by adding them to an answer file and installing them with Image Configuration Editor (ICE) or Image Builder Wizard (IBW), they will not be correctly installed and you will receive an error.
These two updates are not being offered on Windows Embedded Developer Update (WEDU) because of this online only requirement.
