We also added a Mandelbrot demo to Example Gallery.  This combines a custom PixelShaderEffect (which generates the fractal) with CanvasVirtualControl and ScrollViewer.  It shows how to implement zooming as well as scrolling when using virtual controls.

Thanks for the update.  The Mandelbrot demo works quite well and it's very tempting to experiment with converting ink to geometry to find out what neat things can be done with that.

By canvasTextLayout inline object you mean any given image, shape etc. you can flow text around it? That would be awesome!

Re: Andy that's the idea! It's pretty flexible.

Was trying the Win2D Gallery on my HTC One M8 running Windows 10 10586.11 and every sample worked perfectly.  However, the only one that didn't run completely fluid was the Camera Effect sample.  For some reason, it runs at like 2-3 FPS and the UI (dropdown) is barely responsive with wild lag.  This is of course an insider build of Windows 10 Mobile and the HTC One M8 does have some a special camera scenario since it has 3 cameras and they haven't updated their 3rd party stuff yet for Windows 10.

Decided to mention it just in case it's a performance issue that could manifest in scenarios outside of this one.
