Introducing the Visual Studio ALM Rangers – Dave McKinstry

This post is part of an ongoing series of Rangers introductions. SeeRanger Index (Who is Who?)for more details.

Who you are?

Professionally, I am a Microsoft Developer Technology Specialist by trade, a developer by hobby and an ALM student by passion.  Physically I am a six foot Caucasian male in his mid-forties.  Socially, I am a father, a husband and a friend.

What makes you “tick”?

When not focused on ALM, developer tools and best practices, I enjoy the outdoors.  I go “four wheelin” in the mountains, hike, bike and run.  My son and I have several “fourteeners” in our sights over the next few years.

Where you live?

I live in the beautiful state of Colorado, in suburban Denver.

Why are you active in the Rangers program?

With what I say above in my bio, you might guess that I’m here to remove blocks in adoption to the tools that I am paid to support.  Although that is true, it is really about the people.  The ALM Rangers are motivated, intelligent and fun to work with.  I am here to “fly with the eagles.”

What is the best Rangers project you worked in and why?

I’ve been dormant in the Ranger community for some time; in fact the last time I delivered anything meaningful was four+ years ago and with the speed of technology I believe those deliverables are distant memories.  But We’ll remedy this with the new project(s) I’m working on…
