Both the Visual Studio ALM Rangers Lab Management Guidance (codename African Hawk Eagle) and Rangers Build Customization Guide (codename African Tawny Eagle) have been submitted for review and are entering the final countdown phase.

Lab Management Guide

This Visual Studio ALM Ranger project has the primary goal of delivering scenario based and hands-on guidance for the planning, setup, configuration and usage of Visual Studio Lab Management, backed by  custom VM Template automation for reference environments.

Trivial information … the current guidance includes hands-on labs (HOLs) which amount to a total of 1150 minutes or 18.58 hours of exploration time.

Build Customization Guide

This Visual Studio ALM Ranger project has the primary goal of delivering scenario based and hands-on lab guidance for the customization and deployment of TFS Team Build activities such as versioning, code signing, and branching.

The Teams

The teams of both projects are phenomenal, because not only did they deliver both solutions under the normal challenging Rangers environment (virtual teams, multiple time zones, different cultures, part-time-volunteer resources, …), but they supported the dog fooding of Ruck often to the detriment of their primary commitments in the projects and enduring associated process tweaking, analysis and questioning by Brian and I.

I would like to personally thank all of the Visual Studio ALM Rangers who have thrown their passion, knowledge, personal time and all the other ingredients that will make both these solutions “block busters”. Both projects were started with very special codenames and seeing the phenomenal solutions emerge makes me extremely proud of this amazing Rangers “family”.
