Introducing the Visual Studio ALM Rangers – Stephen Godbold

This post is part of an ongoing series of Rangers introductions. See An index to all Rangers covered on this blog for more details.

Who are you?

A sports addict, determined competitor and a bit of a nomad. Growing up in a small mid north coast town about 5 minutes from some of the most beautiful beaches in the world created an addiction to the ocean that was sadly left wanting when I moved to Australia's capital as a teenager. Luckily Canberra is only a couple of hours from the snow, so I was able to satisfy my cravings with snowboarding and mountain biking. Outside of these adrenalin searches I'm a Senior Consultant with Readify, who are one of Australia's leading .NET consulting firms. In my role I am involved in automating the build and deployment of some of Australia's largest systems, working with teams to help them improve their software delivery efforts and I have the pleasure of working with some the smartest people in the country.

What makes you “tick”?

Usually lots and lots of caffeine! Just kidding - seriously though, I'm a very competitive person so I love to challenge myself and those around me. I'm also a pretty firm believer in learning by throwing yourself in the deep end. There's nothing like the sheer panic of realising you're in well over your head and the accompanying sense of achievement when you find a way to succeed.

Where do you live?

Sydney, Australia (when I'm home)

Where do you call home?

Anywhere I'm with friends and family

Why are you active in the Rangers program?

The Rangers program has generated some really valuable community assets. I'm very keen to give back some of what I've got out of the program by contributing wherever I can.

What is the best Rangers project you worked in and why?

Being one of the new kids on the block, I haven't had the privilege just yet. Really looking forward to kicking off the first of what will hopefully be a number of contributions!
