Visual Studio 2010 Guidance – What’s changed and what’s coming?

You can find a list of all the Visual Studio ALM Rangers projects here. The most recent changes have occurred in the following three guidance projects:

Visual Studio 2010 Quick Reference Guidance

The capacity planning quick reference poster has been updated to match the latest findings and guidance from the product group. In addition a new collection planning quick reference poster, which compliments the capacity poster, has been included in the guidance. See TFS 2010 Capacity Planning Poster – Refresh Posted and New Team Collection Planning Quick Reference Poster for detail.

Visual Studio 2010 Architecture Tooling

With the release of Feature Builder 1.0 we are busy updating the “Visual Studio 2010 Architecture Guidance – Creating extensions with the feature extension HOL” hands-on-lab manual to align the HOL with latest Feature Builder changes and also on the verge of releasing the Visual Studio 2010 ALM rangers Architecture Guidance extension. The latter is an exciting development in terms of our dream Rangers Guidance – We will be introducing a radically new landscape for ALM Guidance … is it the correct one?

Visual Studio 2010 and Team Foundation Server 2010 VM Factory

We are busy testing 64-bit task sequences for the current VM Rangers factory, which will introduce the same family of virtual images for both 32-bit and 64-bit environments.  The introduction of Office 2010 and MOSS 2010 is next in the queue for the VM Factory and automated virtual machine installation and configuration.

Please let us know if there is anything else we should be focusing on!

What’s coming?

The Visual Studio 2010 database Guidance is imminent and we have completed the voting for the next wave of Rangers out-of-band and guidance solutions.

Watch this space for information on imminent new releases and forthcoming attractions which are to start shortly.
