Introducing the Visual Studio ALM Rangers - Rob Jarratt

Who you are?
I am a Developer Consultant based in Manchester, England.

What makes you “tick”?
My passion is software development because I like to make things that do something useful and make a positive difference to people’s lives, and I like to help other passionate people do the same. Software development also features strongly at home, I write software for my own use at home, for example extending a simulator for the VAX and PDP11 computers (I restore classic VAX computers). Outside of computing my main activity is rock climbing and I also enjoy photography. I live very close to the Peak District which is where I do most of my rock climbing.

Why are you active in the Rangers program?
I am active in the Rangers programme because I like to help make other developers’ lives easier, the Rangers programme offers a fantastic opportunity to do this and to reach a very wide audience.

What is the best Rangers project you worked in and why?
My favourite Rangers project is of course my own (WCF Load Test). This project has shown me that the Rangers can make a difference to people all over the world.

I am now excited to be working on the Word for TFS project, which promises to bring more stakeholders into the TFS world

“Picture was taken in winter 2009/2010 when we had a lot more snow than is usual, I had an absolutely fantastic spell of winter ill walks. After the pictured walk it took the left side of my face several weeks to recover full feeling!.
