Chatter – A very special day with my aviation son

Today is a very sad day for the Schaub family as our oldest son is returning back to South-Africa for a while.

Fortunately I was able to spend a very special day with him yesterday and as part of a long site seeing excursion day through Vancouver, we had the pleasure of enjoying a panoramic flight in a DeHavilland DHC-2 Beaver seaplane.

He has flown in an Piaggio P-166S Albatross plane, in an ex-military jet and is doing most of his flying on Tecnam planes back in South-Africa … but a seaplane, especially one that has such a long and proud history, was an experience for him :)

Due to bad weather and a low cloud base the site seeing from above was limited, but the turbulence, the lower altitude and the weaving through the small islands and coastline made him light up with a constant smile.

… for the next few hours (~25) we will we watching flight tracking sites and biting our nails until we finally “I have arrived” SMS.
