Agile Vancouver Community Event … a summary of an exceptional event

Clipart Illustration of a White Character Pointing While Standing Behind A Podium And Giving A Speech The event Agile Vancouver – Scrum at Microsoft took place last night and I counted 98 attendees, which brought the total attendance to a nice 100 with the two presenters included.

The presenters Gabe Brown and Adam Meltzer from Microsoft, gave us an exceptional and interactive talk on their background, view on who is using Scrum within Microsoft, their practices and culture and shared invaluable results and statistics on their experience with Scrum. The discussions covered both the pro and cons, making us all think … we will surely have more round-table type discussions to take these discussions further, with the objective of understanding where we can and should, and more importantly where we should not be using Scrum.

Transparency and embracing of failures” was a key message I took from the discussion. A theme we also covered in one of the community books “Software Engineers on their way to Pluto”, for which you can get your personal electronic copy here. It is a book that shares similar messages in a Sci-Fi and humorous style for developers.
