Hosted agent assignment delays in West Europe – 07/20 – Mitigated

While the Azure team continues to investigate the root cause of the performance degradation while trying to re-image virtual machines, we were able to fully mitigate the issue by increasing the capacity of our machine pools in North Europe in order to clear the build queue that accumulated. The delays in assigning hosted agents has also been noticed with the VS2017 machine pool in addition to the Linux machine pool. Our telemetry shows that the cause of the delay is due to performance degradation while trying to re-image virtual machines that are part of the machine pool. We are currently working with our Azure partner team to understand the root cause of the performance degradation. In the meantime in an effort to mitigate the incident we are adding additional capacity to our machine pools in North Europe to handle the load.

We're investigating delays in assigning hosted agents from the Linux machine pool in West Europe. Users in West Europe may see increased delays in getting hosted agents assigned to their build request. We are working on mitigating the incident. Apologies for the inconvenience.
