Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe under Windows Virtual PC

Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe (SWOTL) is a DOS game released by LucasFilm Games.  It was released in 1991 and allows you to take the role of a pilot in World War II.

Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe lets you play for either the United States Air Force or for the German Luftwaffe.  You can play stand-alone missions or you can play the campaign stories.  This game runs perfectly under Windows Virtual PC:

I have many fond memories of playing this game when it first came out.  Specifically, I remember the bomber missions.  In order to reach your target and get home without running out of fuel you could not do anything but fly directly to the target and directly back – and usually not at the top speed.  This meant that you had to spend a lot of time manning the turret guns trying to keep your plane in one piece while you slowly drifted to your destination.

I always played this game with the keyboard – but while trying it under Windows Virtual PC I found that you can use the mouse as well.  While you would not want to use the mouse for actually flying a plane – it works excellently for when you need to man the turret guns on a bomber plan.

Cheers,
Ben
