Using virtual machines to run System Center Virtual Machine Manager

A number of people have commented to me on the rather steep requirements to run Beta 1 of System Center Virtual Machine Manager. And I have to agree - with the requirement of:

  • Domain joined 32-bit Windows Server 2003 R2
  • PowerShell RC1
  • Net 3.0
  • WS Management

Now pretty much all of my domain joined servers are 64-bit, but there is a simple solution. Install SCVMM inside of a virtual machine. Luckily SCVMM seems to have no problems with managing the version of Virtual Server that it is running inside of.
