Like so many computer game sequels – Rebel Assault II takes the same concepts as were used in the original Rebel Assault and polishes them up. Rebel Assault II follows a new story line where you play a rookie pilot who stumbles into a plan by the Empire to build a fleet of ‘stealth’ tie fighters. The story line is not too gripping – but the game play is fun. Rebel Assault II uses the same ‘guided path’ style of play that Rebel Assault used. However it has notably higher quality graphics and sound – in fact when I first bought Rebel Assault II I was amazed by the quality of the video cut scenes:
Rebel Assault II is very playable under Virtual PC – though it does seem to have some timing issues on fast computers when playing the video cut scenes (which results in the actors lips being out of sync with the sound of their words).
