Installing FixPack 15 and Virtual Machine Additions on OS/2 Warp 4

Once you have OS/2 up and running (as discuss here:...) the first thing that you should do is to get the latest FixPack installed - which happens to be FP15 for OS/2 Warp 4. To do this - boot the OS/2 virtual machine and open an OS/2 Command Prompt Window and make C:OS2SERV ('md OS2SERV').

Then open the 'WebExplorer' folder off the desktop and start 'WebExplorer (LAN)'. After this - select 'File' --> 'Open Document' --> https://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/archiver/uzs550x2.exe --> Save to 'C:OS2SERV'.

Exit WebExplorer and open an OS/2 Command Prompt Window again and change to c:OS2SERV ('cd OS2SERV').You should then run:

ftp
open ps.boulder.ibm.com
anonymous
<any password>
cd /ps/products/os2/rsu/xr_m015
bin
prompt
mget *

This will download everything you need. When it is done run:

quit
uzs550x2
unzip csf143.zip
md os2serv

(Yes - that is right - this will make an 'OS2SERV' directory under the 'OS2SERV' directory)

cd os2serv
..unzip ..f*.zip
..unzip ..x*.zip (select 'A' for All when prompted)
cd ..
os2serv

This will start the FixPack installation program - you should then select to install the FixPack.

Shutdown and reboot when done. In order to confirm that the FixPack is installed - open an OS/2 command Prompt window and run 'SYSLEVEL' and check that the Base Operating system, it should be 'XR0M015'. We can now install the Virtual Machine Additions for OS/2. To do this Select to install the Virtual Machine Additions from the Action menu. Then go to 'OS/2 System' --> 'Drives' --> The CD-ROM --> OS2 --> os2inst.exe.

You should reboot when done - and everything should be setup and ready to go:
