OEMs End Sale of Windows XP October 22

As of October 22, 2010,OEMs will no longer pre-install Windows XP Home on new netbook PCs. You probably won’t notice because most hardware manufacturers already ship Windows 7. In April 2010, 81% of netbook units sold at retail in the US came with Windows 7 pre-installed.

Also, if you or your customers are running Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), be sure to update to Service Pack 3. Support ends for Windows XP SP2 on July 13. Support for Service Pack 3 continues through April 2014.

Update those Windows XP computers at Microsoft Update website.

See Support for Windows 2000 and Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) Ends on July 13, 2010 for more information and what “end-of-support” means for the products.
