Windows 7 Light-up
Windows 7 represents some great opportunities for ISV. Light up features include Windows 7 ribbon, task bar, thumbnails, federated search, and PowerShell.
CTO Bob Janssen of RES Software explains why his company supports the light up features in Windows 7, including Jump Lists. These light up features on Windows 7 improve user interface and cue users to the application state. Windows Azure Platform
Windows Azure offers ISVs the ability to create highly scalable, highly performant without the cost of building out a data center. Windows Azure applications are hosted by Microsoft.
Aspect Software, Inc. describes their recent project to move storage and processing of screen capture and voice conversations from their call center application into Azure.
As call centers typically have to retain large amounts of voice data recordings for many years, using Azure ensures the customer does not have to maintain hardware for potentially five years or more. Windows Azure takes care of the burden of data retention.
RES Software uses SQL Azure to offer cloud storage for user desktop configurations. The company also offers on premises storage options. In this video CTO Bob Jaansen explains how and why they company offers both SQL Azure and SQL Server storage options for their customers.[more ]
The team at Epson Imaging Technology Center (EITC) has created an application that is used to create mark sheets then translate completed forms into data stored on Windows Azure Platform. Mark sheets are customizable forms users can print and mark similar to the standardized tests that we’ve all used.[more ]
