Driver Adds Capabilities on PHP for SQL Server, SQL Azure

SQL-Azure_rgb_thumb New capabilities have been added for building PHP applications with relational data using SQL Server or SQL Azure as your database.

The community preview for Version 1.1 of the SQL Server Driver for PHP is available from Microsoft Downloads

SQL Server Driver for PHP 1.1 CTP includes:

  • Support for SQL Azure
  • Support for PHP version 5.3
  • Support for UTF-8
  • Support for Scrollable results, row countMigration to SQL Server 2008 Native Client framework that provides for performance enhancements.

The SQL Server Driver for PHP download is available to all SQL Server users at no additional charge. The SQL Server Driver for PHP is a PHP 5 extension that allows for the reading and writing of SQL Server data from within PHP scripts. The extension provides a procedural interface for accessing data in all editions of SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2008.

The Driver for PHP is a PHP 5 extension allows the reading and writing of SQL Server data from within PHP scripts. It provides a procedural interface for accessing data in all editions of SQL Server (including Express Editions), and makes use of PHP features, including PHP streams to read and write large objects.
