Windows 7 Details To Be Revealed at PDC, WinHEC

Developers will get the first look at the details in the upcoming client OS, currently named Windows 7, at Professional Developers Conference (PDC) in October and Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WinHEC) the following week. PDC is set for Oct. 26-29, while WinHEC is scheduled for Nov. 5-7. Both are to be held in Los Angeles.

The announcement was made on a new blog named Engineering Windows 7. Jon DeVaan and Steven Sinofsky wrote in a blog entry entitied Welcome to Engineering Windows 7, "Our intent with Windows 7 and the pre-release communication is to make sure that we have a reasonable degree of confidence in what we talk about when we do talk."

The team has talked about very few features publicly so far. Touch gestures has been described in a blog posting and video at, Microsoft demonstrates Multi-touch.
