Windows Home Server Power Pack 1 Goes RTM

The Windows Home Server 2008 Power Pack 1 has been released to manufacturing (RTM). Windows Home Server Power Pack 1 will be automatically downloaded to Windows Home Servers through Windows Update if Automatic Updates is enabled on your home server. The announcement was posted on the team site at Power Pack 1 - come and get it.

Power Pack 1 provides a range of new enhancements, including support for home computers running Windows Vista x64 editions, backup of home server Shared Folders, improvements to remote access, more efficient power consumption and better performance. And, of course, it delivers a fix for the data corruption bug.

Windows Home Server can:

  • Store digital memories, media stored, and organized.
  • Home computers backed up daily, automatically.
  • Simple restore of lost files.
  • Secure and personalized website address for shaing photos and home videos
  • Easy to add storage and new software capabilities.

The software development kit for Windows Home Server has been updated for Power Pack 1. There are three ways ISVs can extend Windows Home Server: extend the Windows Home Server Console; extend the Windows Home Server platform; or a combination of both.
