Document Interoperability Initiative to test document interop

Labs around the world will be set up to test the interoperability of various document formats as part of the Document Interoperability Initiative. The program will include Open Office XML and the Open Document Format (ODF) originally developed by Sun Microsystems.

The initative is part of the Interoperability Principles where we support open protocols and open application programmer interfaces (APIs) to developers working on Microsoft Exchange, Office SharePoint Server, .NET Framework, Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008, and Windows Vista.

The first lab is set for Cambridge and includes ISV participants DataViz, Mark Logic Corp., Novell, Nuance Communications, and Quickoffice. The lab will test interoperability with the iPhone, Linux, Mac OS X, Palm OS, Symbian OS, and Windows Mobile.
