Sync Framework Available Now as CTP

The first community technology preview (CTP) for the Microsoft Sync Framework (MSF) has been released. The release consists of

  • Sync Framework Runtime
  • Sync Services for File Systems
  • Sync Services for ADO.NET

In addition, the preview includes documentation, datasheet, and the Microsoft Sync Framework SDK.

Have you wanted to support mobile and remote workers more effectively? Mobile and remote workers use laptops, Smartphone, PDA, or even SmartClient. The Microsoft Sync Framework is a comprehensive synchronization platform that enables collaboration and offline access for applications, services and devices.

Sync Services for ADO.NET is a part of the (MSF) that enables synchronization between ADO.NET enabled databases. Since Sync Services for ADO.NET is part of the MSF, any database that uses Sync Services for ADO.NET can exchange information with other data sources that are supported by MSF, such as web services, file systems or custom data stores.

The first CTP of the Microsoft Sync Framework builds on the synchronization functionality available in Visual Studio 2008. With Visual Studio 2008 developers can rapidly take advantage of offline synchronization capabilities to sync-enable applications and services easily with rich designer support.

Visual Studio 2008 and the .NET Framework 3.5 will be available by the end of November 2007. The .NET Framework 3.5 will also be available to end users via a free, optional download from Microsoft Update. A CTP of Microsoft Sync Framework is available today at https://msdn.microsoft.com/sync.
