Hi, I’m Kristina Hotz, a Program Manager on the USB Team. In this post, I’d like to promote a new whitepaper on the Windows Hardware Developer Central Website.
The whitepaper provides information about loading a USB Attached SCSI Protocol (UASP) storage driver as the class driver on a USB driver stack for an Extensible Host Controller Interface (xHCI) controller.
Currently, Microsoft does not provide a USB driver stack for xHCI controllers. The whitepaper includes guidelines for hardware manufacturers and software vendors who develop an xHCI driver stack for the Windows operating system. In particular, there is information about developing a USB client driver for a storage device that supports UASP, and automatically loading that driver when the storage device is enumerated by the xHCI driver stack.
You can download the whitepaper from this WHDC Web site.
