Ahead of the show, this guest post explores CloudBase in further detail.
Journey to the Cloud:
How Office 365 and CloudBase are changing the way schools collaborate
At Civica we have been working with schools, academies, trusts and local authorities for many years to help them improve teaching and learning and enable more effective administration for the benefit of students, teachers and the community. Technology is evolving at a rapid place and with this brings new and exciting opportunities to not only modify methods of teaching but also to redefine them and deliver learning in new ways. One area of significant growth is the use of cloud technologies and in particular the implementation of Office 365 within education. We have supported over 100 schools in not only rolling out Office 365 but also working with them to embed it into their everyday working practices.
Some of the key drivers from schools for the move to the cloud include the desire to support Bring Your Own Device schemes, to work more collaboratively and the need to be able to work from anywhere. Recently we have been working with a cluster of primary schools who have joined together to support each other and share best practice. Through a trust wide implementation of Office 365 they have all been able to work collaboratively across a whole range of content from anywhere, on any device. Using the Civica CloudBase tools for Office 365 the schools have been able to easily create an online environment that is structured around their way of working and secured to ensure that content within the platform is only accessible by those who need access.
CloudBase enables all their staff to seamlessly move between their different schools but still be able to continue working and accessing all the content they require as they do so. This collaborative method of working has also allowed them to create an online community of teachers who can work together without being in the same place. It is also allowing them to host online meetings and design schemes of work collectively as well as sharing knowledge and expertise in order to deliver the best outcomes for their students.
