This next BETT 2016 partner blog post comes from Airhead, who not only join us in the Microsoft Partner Village, but return to BETT this year having won the ‘Innovation in ICT’ BETT Award in 2015. Read on below to learn more about Airhead’s Cloud Desktop for education, hosted in Microsoft Azure.
You can find Airhead at BETT 2016 in the Microsoft Partner Village (stand C300).
Winner of the ‘Innovation in ICT’ Bett Award in 2015, Airhead is a Cloud Desktop for schools, colleges and universities, hosted in Microsoft Azure and designed around three key principles:
Access anytime, anywhere on any device – Airhead runs in a browser and works on any device, including tablets and phones.
Simple, safe and fun – Users need minimal training so Airhead is adopted quickly and widely by staff, students and parents.
Seamless integration with the best of the Web – Airhead offers single click access to your web services and is fully integrated with Microsoft Office 365.
The Swinton High School had been searching for an easy and dynamic way to share digital content with pupils outside of the classroom for a number of years. Assistant Headteacher Paul Turner describes how Airhead enabled them to finally open up 24/7 education for all:
“We tried VLEs and subscription services with limited success. They were always labour intensive or limited in what they could provide, being too wide ranging and not specific to the courses that we teach, or lacking in true depth and detail. Airhead has meant that we can be in control of everything that we share with the pupils and guarantee that it is content specific and useful to the pupils who are accessing the information.”
Airhead supports communication and collaboration with Launchpads and Flightdecks. Launchpads provide quick and easy access to your apps such as web versions of Microsoft Outlook, OneDrive and Office as well as recently launched Microsoft services such as Delve and Sway.
Flightdecks support widgets which are like windows on the Web. There are widgets for video, email, calendars, documents, notes, social media and much more.
You can create as many launchpads and flightdecks as you want at the press of a button. They can be shared with individuals, groups, roles and even publicly with parents or colleagues in other schools. Even the new Office 365 Groups are supported. There is no easier way to support communication, collaboration and connected learning.
Together launchpads and flightdecks support a whole range of activities in schools, including sharing course content, course management, lesson planning, digital portfolios, revision, homework management, parental engagement, school-wide communication and even website management.
You can set up a free, personal Airhead account here or find out more about us on this public flightdeck. Most of all, we’d love to see you at Bett on Stand C300 to show you what Airhead can do for your school.
