Cloud OS Event @ Royal Holloway University of London

Royal Holloway University of London are hosting an event on the 19th June exclusively for UK University Staff and decision makers showcasing the Microsoft Private/Hybrid Cloud they have built in association with Infront Consulting.


The event will discuss how the introduction of the Microsoft Cloud OS stack has delivered increased value and agility, delivered cost savings of £50K per annum and reduced service desk calls through service automation.

The full agenda is as follows:

10:30am - Introduction to the University

10:45am - Technical overview and demonstrations (Huw Michael - Technical Architect - RHUL)

12:00 - Lunch

1:15pm - Building a private cloud with Microsoft Tools (Infront Consulting)

2:00pm - Migrating from VMWARE with NETAPP SHIFT (Netapp & Infront Consulting)

2:30pm - Coffee break

3pm - Service automation and self service request offerings (Infront Consulting)

4pm - Coffee / networking / finish

Technical solution involves:

  • Hyper-V 2012 R2
  • System Center 2012 R2 including: Service Manager, Orchestrator, Data Protection Manager, Virtual Machine Manager, Operations Manager, Configuration Manager
  • Cireson Self Service (HTML5) portal for presenting Service Manager Request Offerings
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Netapp Shift for migration from VMWARE
  • Integration for provisioning & self serving lots of things e.g. Sharepoint Online team sites, Exchange online shared mailboxes, shared folders on Netapp, quotas on Netapp, VM's, SQL databases, website redirects, Azure resources, and many more
