Open data has the potential to be a game-changer for local governments throughout the UK. Openly sharing local data can help improve citizen engagement, increase awareness of city services and even help solve complex problems. Microsoft CityNext partner Shaping Cloud are experts on how open data can be applied in practical ways, using low-cost, agile and secure cloud technologies. They’ve used their innovative approach to work with Manchester City Council to provide citizens with real-time environmental data via a Windows 8 app.
