Cutting a £1 million from an organisation’s budget over the course of three years is no mean feat. Those kinds of savings usually come with a hefty cost – fewer staff, shuttered programs, lost resources, etc. But sometimes it can come from replacing an old, inefficient system – like a traditional telephone system – with something more efficient and effective – like Microsoft Lync. The Scottish Borders Council did just that – gaining a tool that’s not only less costly in the long run, but also lets employees work more flexibly. If only every budget call was that easy.
