TfL builds next generation ticketing platform

TfL's Oyster card has proven extremely popular with Londoners, however the organisation is not resting on its laurels: work on the next generation Oyster replacement is already well under way. Tim Carmen, Architecture Manager at Transport for London (TfL), is responsible for creating the architecture for this new ticketing platform. With an ethos of agile development and following an extensive proof of concept, Carmen outlines how the search for a new platform ended with the choice of the neat SQL Server 2012 package and expanded functionality for the new system.
