Microsoft Ltd re-appointed to Government’s ‘G-Cloud’ Framework v2
2nd November 2012, Reading, UK: Microsoft has been re-appointed to the Government Procurement Services’ ‘G-Cloud’ Framework v2 following the completion of the Official Journal European Union (OJEU) bid process. Microsoft has been appointed on all four lots: Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS) and cloud consulting services. In addition, a number of Microsoft’s Partners have also won a place on the Framework, 80 plus of which are UK SMEs.
The G-Cloud approach is part of the Government’s commitment to see public cloud services account for 50% of new Government ICT spending by 2015. Microsoft will provide a package of its key public cloud online services including Windows Azure, Office 365, Dynamics CRM Online and Microsoft Consulting Services to deliver the objectives of the Government’s Strategic Implementation Plan. Microsoft recognises the strategic importance of the G-Cloud Framework as the most effective purchasing route for cloud services and is proud to be supplier on the framework. It will offer UK government the benefits of unprecedented economies of scale in the provision of email, collaboration and unified comms services, as well as other public cloud services with its low cost Dynamics CRM and Azure compute cloud services.
