Smarter Government – Web Seminar on Secure Remote Working on July 14

As well as improving individual productivity and reducing carbon footprint, providing the technology to enable remote working also supports government agencies and local authorities in reducing the requirement for office real estate and can deliver cashable savings. One of the concerns of many organisations, particularly now that the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has the power to levy fines of up to £500,000 on public and commercial organisations for serious breaches of data protection or identity, is to ensure that providing flexible and remote working facilities for all employees does not compromise information security.

The Microsoft partner, and specialist on identity management , Oxford Computer Group (OCG) is running a webinar on How to Enable Secure Flexible Working on July 14th, 11-11:30AM which will address how the appropriate combination of people, process and technology can address these concerns.

In this 30-minute webinar we shall explore the critical IT security issues that must be addressed when implementing solutions for flexible working, including:

  • How to ensure only the right staff gain access to the right systems at the right time
  • How to secure information assets on the move and at rest
  • The role Protective Marking plays in helping to secure critical information assets

The webinar will commence with a brief introduction from Microsoft on the key business issues and the challenges facing many of the UK's public sector organisations. We'll then go on to explain how solutions from Microsoft, and Microsoft application partners, are being used to enable flexible working, with a particular focus on how they address the most critical IT security issues.

We'll explain the role Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager (FIM) 2010 plays in managing users and their access to systems, highlighting the many business benefits this brings. We'll also look at how Microsoft Unified Access Gateway (UAG) can be used to provide secure access to your systems for remote workers using a variety of managed or un-managed devices and how Microsoft Rights Management Services (RMS) protects critical information assets, such as emails, spread sheets and documents whilst in transit and at rest. We'll also discuss protective marking and how this is used as an additional line of defence. It's a packed agenda, but we'll also find time for a Q&A session, where you can put your questions to our experts.

Agenda:

  • Flexible Working in the Public Sector - An introduction from Microsoft
  • The critical role of Identity and Access Management with FIM 2010
  • Enabling Secure Remote Access with Microsoft UAG
  • Protecting Information Assets with Microsoft RMS and Protective Marking
  • Q&A
