Cloud Computing – Office 365 Public Beta Available Now

I am delighted to inform you that a more extensive public Beta programme for Microsoft Office 365 is now available. This gives you the opportunity to experience how it brings together cloud versions of Microsoft’s most trusted communications and collaboration products with the latest version of our desktop software and companion Web Apps.

Microsoft Office 365 is designed to meet the needs of organisations of all sizes — from independent professionals to small, midsize and large businesses and from government agencies to educational institutions — helping save time, money and free up valuable ICT resources.

Microsoft Office 365 is a subscription service that combines the familiar Microsoft Office Web Apps with a set of web-enabled tools that are easy to learn and use, that work with your existing hardware, and that come backed by robust security and reliability. You can find out more about the extensive functionality in Microsoft Office 365 here, including:

  • Email and calendar
  • Office Web Applications
  • Websites and collaboration
  • Instant Messaging and Online Meetings
  • Security and Reliability

From a public sector perspective, Microsoft Office 365 could be the ideal productivity solution for smaller organisations initially and while it is in Beta it could be a perfect opportunity to try it out in such entities as parish councils for example.
