Smarter Government – Microsoft’s New MOU with UK Government

Microsoft has announced the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the UK Cabinet Office, to support the Government's efficiency agenda.

In July, as part of the Government’s deficit reduction programme, the Minister for the Cabinet Office, Francis Maude, met with the CEOs of the nineteen biggest Government ICT providers, including Microsoft, to ask them what they can do to help cut the cost of the services they provide to government.

Microsoft has completed our negotiations with the Cabinet Office and made the formal announcement on October 12th that a new MOU has been signed by Francis Maude. Dr Nicola Hodson, General Manager for Microsoft’s UK Public Sector Business, confirms:

“This new MOU deepens the collaborative relationship we already have with UK Government and builds on PSA09 , the software purchasing model Microsoft recently formed with the UK public sector, which has successfully driven better value for money, greater choice and flexibility in the licensing of enterprise software. "

More details of the new MOU will be made available in the coming weeks.
