Virtualisation reduces new server provisioning to 3 minutes for Slough

Like many local authorities, Slough Borough Council needs to get the most from its investment in IT and do what can be done to reduce the cost of running their IT operations. Faced with the complex challenge of providing more compute-power for users and applications whilst rapidly running out of datacentre space and facing environmental constraints on air-conditioning and power consumption, Slough Borough Council is implementing a virtual server environment using the Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V.

You can read the full Slough Borough Council case study here and find out exactly how the council has reduced the time required to install and bring new servers online from 16 hours to 3 minutes.

You can also get more in-depth information and experience the Microsoft virtualisation solution at our Virtualisation Unplugged Seminar at the Royal Academy of Music in London on October 24th. This one-day seminar brings together Microsoft experts and customers to provide you with practical advice and guidance on how to implement server virtualisation for your Microsoft server environments using Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V and System Center to manage both physical and virtual server environments from a single console.

If you are not able to attend the seminar but would like more information on any of the presentations send an email to lrg@microsoft.com and we shall follow-up with the additional information you need on the Microsoft approach to virtualisation.
