Making the web accessible

Socitm (the professional organisation for public sector ICT managers) have produced what looks to be an excellent DVD called "A World Denied" on the importance of making the web accessible to everyone - no matter what type of disability or impairment they may have.

One of the organisations that has helped with the production of the DVD is AbilityNet, a charity that provides lots of help and guidance on how disabled adults and children can use computers and the Internet by adapting and adjusting their technology.  They have a number of local centres where you can go in and get help and advice. We host the Thames Valley centre here at our office in Reading and a number of other big suppliers like IBM, HP and BT also provide support to them too.

Microsoft also offers guidance on the various accessibility features we now provide in our products.
